How we count
TopRank is an independent ranking of Georgian websites and a free counter. This page briefly explains where every number comes from.
What we count
- Page view — every page load on which the counter script ran.
- Visitor — a unique visitor of one site within one day.
- Visit — a session; a new visit starts after 30 minutes of inactivity.
- Days are counted in Tbilisi time (UTC+4).
Bots and artificial traffic
- Known bots, search crawlers and browser prefetch/prerender are not counted.
- More than 400 page views by one visitor on one site per day are not counted.
- At most 60 visitors per IP per site per day are counted (allowing for shared mobile carrier IPs).
- Views count only from the registered site’s domain.
Ranking rules
- Sites are ordered by visitors in the chosen period (or by views/visits, depending on the sort).
- The position change (▲▼) compares today’s position with yesterday’s for the same period.
- Only active, listed sites with a visible counter take part.
- Sites with hidden statistics show no numbers, but their position is still calculated.
Why the counter is required
- A visible counter proves the site really uses TopRank and lets its visitors see the ranking.
- We check the home page daily; after 3 failed checks in a row the site temporarily leaves the ranking.
- When the counter is back, the site returns automatically — no statistics are lost.
- After 7 days in the ranking, the link from your site page becomes follow (an SEO benefit).
Privacy
- The counter uses no cookies and does not store IP addresses.
- Uniqueness is based on a one-way hash that changes every day — a visitor cannot be recognised the next day.
- Details are in the privacy policy.
